This is a selection of notes referring in whole or
in part to the issue of Poland, exchanged between the German Foreign Office and
the German Embassy in Moscow; and diplomatic notes and documents on the same
theme, exchanged between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia from April 17, 1939 to
June 22, 1941.
Added are some notes exchanged between the same parties, concerning other countries
of Central Europe, illustrating Nazi-Soviet close cooperation and mutual
understanding in their well orchestrated, joint effort to conquer that part of
Europe.
The notes were captured by the American Army with the archives of the German
Foreign Office, following the collapse of the III Reich.
When the amicable relations between the United States and the Soviet Union soured
and former friends became mortal enemies, the documents were translated into
English and published [Nazi-Soviet Relations, 1939-1941 - Washington, 1948]
by the US Department of State
