POLAND between WARS

POLONIA RESURECTA
Work by one of Poland's most accomplished interwar painters - Zofia Stryjenska, presented at the Main Hall of the Polish Pavillion at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris (1925). The section shown here is one of six mural panels depicting various aspects of life in Poland.
Combination of bold stokes and colours allegorically depicts vibrant and optimistic Poles, whose native country not so long ago regained independence after more than a century of Partitions.
